TAG Heuer - Monaco - 2022

The Monaco needs little introduction, but context matters with this reference. The CBL2113 is the Heuer 02-powered variant — TAG Heuer's in-house manufacture chronograph — which places the crown at 3 o'clock rather than the 9 o'clock position of the Calibre 11-based models. For those who follow the Monaco closely, that distinction is significant: the Heuer 02 is the more technically accomplished movement, while the left-crown layout is the more historically faithful one. This configuration prioritises the former.

The 39mm square case is stainless steel throughout, with a mix of fine brushing and polished bevels that the Monaco has carried since its 1969 debut. The black sunray-brushed dial has a radial finish that shifts under light, with three chronograph subdials — 30-minute counter at three, date and quarter-second counter at six, 12-hour counter at nine — and a red permanent seconds hand that provides an immediate visual anchor. The domed sapphire crystal sits above; the sapphire caseback below, revealing the movement.

That movement is the Calibre Heuer 02, TAG Heuer's manufacture column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch, running at 28,800vph with 28 jewels and an 80-hour power reserve. The finishing is traditional — côtes de Genève striping, perlage, blued screws. The steel H-link bracelet takes its proportions from vintage Monaco bracelets of the early 1970s, with polished centre links and brushed outer links, secured by a folding clasp with push-button release.

Excellent condition from 2022 means minimal wear — expect light surface marks on the case and bracelet centre links at most, maintained in nearly new condition overall.
