Patek Philippe - Aquanaut Chronograph

Patek Philippe introduced the Aquanaut in 1997 as a sportier, more contemporary companion to the Nautilus. The 5968A added flyback chronograph functionality to the collection, combining complex horology with the Aquanaut's modern design language in a stainless steel package.

At 42.2mm, the stainless steel case provides a commanding presence on the wrist whilst maintaining the rounded octagonal shape that distinguishes the Aquanaut line. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, and 120 metres of water resistance reinforces the model's sports-watch positioning.

The dial features Patek Philippe's signature embossed Aquanaut pattern in a graduated blue-black colourway, transitioning from deep blue at the centre to black at the periphery. Applied luminous Arabic numeral hour markers ensure readability, whilst the chronograph seconds hand and thirty-minute counter at six o'clock integrate seamlessly into the design.

The Calibre CH 28-520 C is a self-winding flyback chronograph movement, allowing the chronograph to be reset and restarted in a single pusher action — invaluable for timing consecutive intervals. The movement delivers between 45 and 55 hours of power reserve and is finished to Patek Philippe's exacting standards, visible through the sapphire caseback.

The signature tropical composite strap offers rubber-like resilience with a textile-inspired texture, secured by a stainless steel fold-over deployant clasp. Designed to withstand saltwater, UV exposure, and temperature extremes, the strap ages gracefully with use.
