Cartier's Ballon Blue, introduced in 2007, quickly established itself as one of the maison's most recognisable modern designs. Its distinctive balloon-shaped case, inspired by the first Montgolfier hot-air balloon of 1783, creates a silhouette unlike anything else in contemporary watchmaking.

The 42mm stainless steel case features a smooth, polished bezel that flows seamlessly into the signature fluted crown guard, housing the blue sapphire cabochon that has become the model's hallmark. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, and the case is rated to 30 metres water resistance.

The silvered opaline dial carries painted blue Roman numerals in a radial arrangement, with blued sword-shaped hands sweeping across the guilloché centre. A date aperture sits discreetly at the three o'clock position.

Inside, the Cartier calibre 049 automatic movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour across 25 jewels, delivering approximately 42 hours of power reserve.

The stainless steel bracelet integrates seamlessly with the case's curved profile, secured by a concealed deployant clasp.

Fair condition from 2017 means nine years of wear with visible signs of use — expect noticeable scratching on polished surfaces, possible dents or dings on case edges, significant wear on the bracelet, functionality intact.
