Tudor Black Bay GMT
Presented in mint condition the amazing Tudor Black Bay GMT.
The Black Bay is a modern dive watch that draws its inspiration from the most iconic Submariners in Tudor's history. By taking unique details from Submariners of different eras, Tudor created a dive watch that displays what has made these watches so appealing to collectors for decades.
The Tudor Black Bay GMT features a 41mm steel case, a black domed dial and is powered by Tudor's in house calibre MT5652.
This watch was delivered in the UK in 2018 and comes as a full set with everything included.
The Black Bay pays tribute to the Tudor Submariners of the past without being an out-and-out reissue. The first watch the Black Bay draws from is the original reference 7922 Tudor "Big Crown" Submariner from 1954. These watches were defined, as you might expect, by the large winding crown and the lack of crown guards on the case, both featured on the Black Bay. The Big Crowns are coveted by collectors and can command serious prices. There is also the Tudor Rose dial signature at 12 o'clock carried through from the first Submariners into the 1960s. On the Black Bay, both this and the curved "Rotor Self-Winding" signature below the 200m depth rating at 6 o'clock, as well as the minutes track around the edge of the dial, are printed in either gold or silver to match the hands and surrounds. Finally there are the Snowflake hands, first introduced in the 1970s to improve the readability of these purpose-built dive watches. Beveled lugs on the stainless steel case and an aged leather strap round out the vintage inspired details.
