Rolex calls the Datejust “The Classic Watch of Reference”. The original Datejust launched in 1945 (ref: 4467) to celebrate Rolex’s 40th anniversary and was the first wristwatch with an automatically changing date function.
With the Datejust, Rolex also introduced the iconic 5-piece jubilee bracelet, first in solid gold and later in bicolor and stainless steel. On the tenth anniversary of the Datejust in 1955, the magnifying ‘cyclops lens’ was introduced on the Datejust.
Due to the chic aesthetics, this watch has stayed relevant even after seven decades and will continue to transcend fashions long into the future. Whilst retaining the enduring codes that make it one of the most recognised and everlasting watches in the Rolex collection.
We feel the Datejust is a perfect entry-level watch for those interested in investing in their first luxury watch.
